A fabric separator is a device used for gathering fabric. It attaches to your serger. The long "arm" separates the two layers of fabric so that the bottom layer is gathered while the top layer remains flat. Both raw edges will be overlocked, just as you'd expect. This is used in place of a shirring or gathering foot.
