The Invisible Zipper Foot features two grooves on the underside, designed to securely hold the zipper coils in place while sewing. Since the zipper is inserted before the seam is stitched, it remains hidden when closed, creating a seamless and professional finish.
How to Use:
-
Mark the Zipper Opening Mark the zipper opening length on the seam allowance and zipper, ensuring the excess length is at the bottom.
-
Prepare the Zipper Unzip the zipper completely.
-
Position the Right Side of the Zipper Align the right side of the zipper with the right side of the fabric, placing the coil on the seam line with the top stop positioned 3/4" (2 cm) below the fabric’s cut edge.
-
Sew the First Side Gently press the zipper coils upward and lower the presser foot so the coils sit in the right groove under the foot. Adjust the needle position to align with the needle guide on the foot. Backstitch to secure, then sew down to the marked point on the zipper and seam allowance. Backstitch again to tie off.
-
Position the Left Side of the Zipper Repeat the process for the left side, aligning it with the left side of the garment. Lower the presser foot with the left groove over the zipper coils, ensuring the needle is properly aligned with the needle guide.
-
Sew the Second Side Sew the second side in the same manner as the first, securing the zipper in place.
-
Close the Zipper Pull up the zipper slider and place the fabric with the zipper right sides together.
-
Sew the Seam Below the Zipper Snap on the regular Zipper Foot E, positioning it to the left of the needle. Adjust the needle position to the right. Pin the remaining fabric below the zipper and sew the seam from the lower edge up to the zipper, overlapping the backstitched seam.
-
Trin Excess Zipper Length (If Needed) If the zipper is too long, whipstitch across the teeth 1-1/4" (3 cm) below the inserted length, then trim off the excess zipper below the whipstitching.
-
Press the Seam Open Gently press the seam for a smooth, professional finish.
